Day 1 recap

Abbey kicked off her first Jr National meet with 200 IM. Though a little off her time it was a good first swim to get some of the nerves settled.

Abbey's 2nd race  was 200 Breast, where she improved her time by 0.6 seconds. She qualified for the 'D' Final and reset the Team Record in the process. Finals were swum in Long Course Meters,  which is a common practice a year out from Olympic Trials.

Abbey's swim at Finals was within 0.2 seconds of her best LC time, which is impressive considering she has not done any LC swimming since last August.

Day 2

Thursday was a light day at Juniors with Abbey only swimming 500 Free. Although it was a little off her best time, it was a solid swim.

On to Friday’s events, 200 Free and 50 Breast.

Day 3

Abbey started the morning session with 200 Free. Fast 1st half, sluggish 2nd half. After a good warm down and a snack, Abbey refocused and got ready for 50 Breast. She improved by 0.4 seconds and qualified for Friday evening Finals.

At Finals on Friday evening Abbey had an outstanding race in 50 Breast. Though she got edged at the finish, she swam a time of 35.22. Officially Abbey finished 32nd since swimmers in higher heats cannot be displaced. Her time overall, however, was 18th out of 40.

Day 4

On day 4 it's all about who is the least tired. Abbey is probably half way to the land of the tired swimmer but she still managed to qualify for Finals in 100 Breast. By the time her last race came about, 200 fly, she was definitely done. Abbey's only thought was why she chose to swim 200 Fly.!

At Finals, Abbey capped a great meet and finished 4th in her heat, up 2 spots from her 6th seed heading into finals.

Overall a great meet for Abbey's 1st Juniors meet. Nice job and congrats!!
